1.
I've been in love Too many times Just that one time was too many times Ahhh Just that one time Was so sublime Really don't know what you've got 'til it's gone Ahhh
2.
Riding into town I can't see a thing I'm blinded by the sun And inside I wanna scream Riding into town Just to hear you sing Riding into town Keep a swift foot pace This is not a joke It's a rat race Riding into town Just to see your face Riding into town Even though I'm a disgrace
3.
Dead in the water It's not a paid vacation The sons and daughters Of city officials attend demonstrations It's hardly a sink or swim When all is well if the ticket sells Out with a whimper It's not a blaze of glory You look down from your temple As people endeavor to make it a story And chisel a marble word But all is lost if it's never heard But I've got someone to make reports That tell me how my money's spent To book my stays and draw my blinds So I can't tell what's really there And all I need's a great big felicitations I'll keep your dreams You pay attention for me As strange as it seems I'd rather dissolve than have you ignore me The ground may be moving fast But I tied my boots to a broken mast The difference is clear You throw it in your cauldron Rust and veneer Dusk and dawn, Steinways and Baldwins You start with a simple stock Of all the waste, and salt to taste But damn my luck, and damn these friends That keep on combing back their smiles I save my grace with half-assed guilt And lay down the quilt upon the lawn Spread my arms and soak up felicitations

about

Demir joined The Lullabys May 2020 during an open-call invitation to play. At the time it was a 2 piece band, Jack and Chase, playing 3 instruments, and they needed a drummer. Demir never played drums before but he loved to go clubbing so that was enough rhythm to get things going.

Fast forward 8 months and things have changed; the pandemic was a tired concept; Chase left for Florida; Demir starts PA school in August of 2021 and Jack lived in a tiny house. The hair-brain idea of starting a record label seemed doable, honestly, with the proximity to several friends that make art and music. The drive to make music once again in the shotgun shack (tiny home) continues. The Lullabys continues.

"Too Many Times" and "Ridin' Into Town" were songs carried over from the prior year, contextualized and rearranged for a new sound. The central nerve of these songs are indeed Jack Diller songs--Demir is no good at lyrics--but the production flavor and additions was the truest definition of a collaborative effort. I think that's what we were seeking after all.

So many things fell right into place in this whole process--two friends finding joy in music playing, planning and executing of large projects like the release schedule and the BreakFest showcase, screen printing and photograph taking and art making. It really is about the journey and not the destination, because now that it's the end of Toast Toast Recordings, we get sad knowing it is finished, but happy remembering what we've done together. :')
