Here she goes
The words you thought you would know
They finally fall from her mouth
Speak
She speaks
But she can't quite meet
Your eyes
She's shy shy shy
She's shy
(In your eyes)
She's shy shy shy
She's shy
(Can't quite meet your eyes)
She's there
Take it or leave it all
My heart
is like a roaring rain
Advancing on you
Flowing down you
Surround you
Lover
In the springtime
I keep you in the heart of mine
My love
is like a gentle breeze
Hushing past
Rushing back
To you
Lover
In the springtime
I keep you in this heart of mine
about
The album was made from our bedroom, with little pugs sleeping at our feet (if you listen close you might catch a snore or two.)
These songs were a mixed bag of emotions. "Shy Shy" is about struggling to find your way through a conversation and exploring what can sometimes feel awkward and vulnerable when reaching for words. Especially after being boxed up in our homes for the past year and are now slowly wandering back into regular social interactions."Spring Cleaners" is about the change that comes with time and the passing periods of love - focusing on the bloom of the spring season. Also fun fact: we wrote and recorded it all within 24 hours. :p
The songs were made about a month and half apart, with Shy Shy being the first one produced while Spring Cleaners came about all at once in the final countdown. Sometimes the best inspiration is a deadline. ;-) We used a Roland JP-3X, Behringer RD-6 Drum Machine, Native Instruments virtual instruments, and lots of black and matcha green tea.
Artists we listened to at the time of production: Rozi Plain, Warpaint, Mazzy Star, Womack & Womack, Prince, Drake (guilty pleasure!), Death Cab...the list goes on. If you are into Spotify stalking, there may or may not be a playlist full of inspiration somewhere in my profile.
